Description

For the Wired-and-Tired Times

Granny always said you can’t run on fumes forever. Your body agrees.

Cortisol is your body’s emergency hormone. It gets you out of bed in the morning, sharpens you when something goes wrong, and is supposed to settle back down once the trouble passes. The problem starts when it never gets the signal to stand down.

Adrenal Cortisol Organic Herbal Tincture Blend is a blend of seven organic herbs chosen to help the body’s stress system find its rhythm again.*

FIGHT-OR-FLIGHT: THE ALARM THAT WON’T SHUT OFF

Your body has one alarm system, and it was built for a bear in the woods.

When you sense danger, your adrenal glands — two small glands sitting on top of your kidneys — answer in two waves. The first is adrenaline, in seconds: your heart pounds, your breathing speeds up, blood rushes to your arms and legs, and digestion shuts off because nobody needs to digest lunch while running from a bear.

The second wave is cortisol, over minutes. It pulls sugar into your blood for fuel, keeps your blood pressure up, sharpens your focus, and dials down everything not needed for survival — digestion, repair, immune housekeeping, reproduction, and deep sleep.

Then the bear leaves, and the body is supposed to switch to its opposite: rest-and-digest. Heart rate slows, digestion restarts, the body repairs itself, and you sleep.

Here’s the trouble. Your body can’t tell a bear from an overdue bill, a sick parent, a crowded calendar, or a phone that never stops buzzing. Modern stress doesn’t run off into the woods. It sits at the kitchen table every day — so the alarm never shuts off, and rest-and-digest never gets its turn.

ADRENAL FATIGUE AND BURNOUT: WHAT’S REALLY HAPPENING

“Adrenal fatigue” is the name most people use for what happens after months or years of that alarm ringing. Your adrenal glands don’t wear out like a car battery. What breaks down is the signal — the conversation between your brain and your adrenal glands, called the HPA axis, loses its rhythm. A healthy cortisol rhythm runs high in the morning to get you up and lowest at bedtime so you can sleep. Under long-term stress, that curve gets scrambled.

Stress that won’t let up moves through three stages:

  1. Alarm — the fight-or-flight surge. Normal and healthy, if it ends.
  2. Resistance — the body adapts to living under siege. Cortisol stays high. You’re wired: driven, busy, running on fumes, sleeping poorly but still pushing through.
  3. Exhaustion — burnout. The cortisol curve flattens. Mornings feel like climbing out of a hole, energy crashes in the afternoon, a second wind shows up right at bedtime, and you start pulling away from the work and people you used to care about.

THE REAL COST OF STAYING IN THE ALARM

Cortisol is meant to run in short bursts. Kept high for months, it starts costing you:

  • Sleep — your mind races when your body is exhausted.
  • Belly weight — cortisol directs fat storage to the middle and drives cravings for sugar and starch.
  • Blood sugar swings — the shaky, hangry, have-to-eat-now feeling.
  • Immunity — you catch everything going around and take longer to bounce back.
  • Digestion — bloating, heartburn, and irregularity.
  • Blood pressure — the alarm keeps the pressure up.
  • Memory and focus — brain fog, lost words, walking into a room and forgetting why.
  • Muscle and bone — cortisol breaks tissue down for fuel and, over time, thins both.
  • Mood — irritability and anxiety, then the flat, numb, can’t-care feeling.
  • Hormones — survival comes first, so cycles, libido, and the menopause transition all get rougher.

SIGNS YOU MAY BE RUNNING ON EMPTY

  • Tired but wired at bedtime, then unable to get up in the morning
  • A 3 p.m. crash, followed by a second wind at 10 p.m.
  • Craving salt or sugar
  • Feeling lightheaded when you stand up quickly
  • Small things feeling like big things
  • Needing something just to get going, and something else to wind down

WHAT AN ADAPTOGEN IS

Every herb in this bottle except Ginger is an adaptogen. The word was coined in Russia in the mid-1900s for plants that helped workers, soldiers, and athletes hold up under strain. An adaptogen isn’t a stimulant, and it isn’t a sedative. It nudges the stress system back toward balance whether it’s running too high or too low — which is why adaptogens work over weeks, not minutes, and why one blend can help both the wired and the tired.*

THE HERBS, AND WHY EACH ONE IS HERE

The formula is balanced on purpose: two herbs settle the wired side, three restore the tired side, Licorice props up the worn-out end, and Ginger ties it together.

ORGANIC ASHWAGANDHA ROOT (Withania somnifera) — THE CALM ANCHOR

The tradition:
A cornerstone of India’s Ayurvedic tradition for about 3,000 years, prized as a rasayana — a rejuvenating herb for strength, stamina, and long life. Its Sanskrit name means “smell of a horse,” for its earthy scent and the horse’s strength it was said to give. (Granny promises the bottle doesn’t.) Its Latin name, somnifera, means “sleep-bringing.”

What’s in it:
Withanolides, the compounds that make Ashwagandha what it is.

Why it’s outstanding:
The best-known adaptogen for stress. Ashwagandha supports healthy cortisol levels, a calmer outlook, and deeper sleep, and it works on the calming side of the brain’s chemistry — so it settles a racing mind without knocking you out.*

Its job in this blend:
It leads the formula and anchors the wired side: the 2 a.m. racing mind, the short fuse, and the cortisol that won’t come down in the evening.*

ORGANIC ELEUTHERO ROOT (Eleutherococcus senticosus) — THE STEADY ENGINE

The tradition:
A thorny shrub from the forests of Russia’s Far East, northern China, and Korea, and the plant the whole idea of an adaptogen was built on. In the Soviet era, it was given to factory workers, Olympic athletes, and cosmonauts. You just need to make it through Tuesday.

What’s in it:
Eleutherosides.

Why it’s outstanding:
Eleuthero supports stamina, work capacity, and mental sharpness under strain, and helps you bounce back afterward. Germany’s official herbal commission approved it as a tonic for times of fatigue, weakness, and declining concentration.*

Its job in this blend:
Even, all-day energy with no caffeine and no crash — the foundation for the tired side.*

ORGANIC AMERICAN GINSENG ROOT (Panax quinquefolius) — THE COOL RESTORER

The tradition:
Native to the hardwood forests of eastern North America, from Appalachia up into Canada. The Cherokee and Haudenosaunee used it long before European settlers arrived, and Daniel Boone dug and traded it. It has been shipped to China since the 1700s, where it’s still prized as the cooling ginseng — gentler than the hotter Asian kind.

What’s in it:
Ginsenosides, in a balance that makes American Ginseng restoring rather than revving.

Why it’s outstanding:
It supports energy, memory, and mental clarity, and helps maintain a healthy blood sugar response after meals.*

Its job in this blend:
It restores the person who is running on empty and already running hot — tired, but too keyed up to rest.*

ORGANIC TULSI LEAF (Ocimum tenuiflorum) — THE CLEAR HEAD

The tradition:
Holy Basil, grown in courtyards and at the doorsteps of homes across India for thousands of years and called “the incomparable one.” It’s a daily tea in many households — a good sign for an herb meant to be taken every day.

What’s in it:
Eugenol (the warm note shared with clove), rosmarinic acid, and ursolic acid.

Why it’s outstanding:
Tulsi supports relief from everyday stress, a brighter mood, and clearer thinking under pressure, along with a healthy blood sugar response — and stress is one of the fastest ways to throw blood sugar off.*

Its job in this blend:
It works with Ashwagandha on the wired side, keeping your head clear rather than foggy.*

ORGANIC SCHISANDRA BERRY (Schisandra chinensis) — THE ENDURANCE BERRY

The tradition:
Known in Chinese tradition as wu wei zi, the “five-flavor berry” — sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and pungent all at once. The Nanai hunters of the Russian Far East carried the dried berries on long hunts so they could keep going all day with little food.

What’s in it:
Lignans called schisandrins.

Why it’s outstanding:
Schisandra supports endurance, focus, and mental sharpness when you’re worn down, and supports the liver, which does the cleanup work on spent stress hormones.*

Its job in this blend:
It carries endurance and focus through the day and supports the crew that clears used cortisol.*

ORGANIC GINGER ROOT (Zingiber officinale) — THE WARMING THREAD

The tradition:
One of the oldest kitchen remedies in the world, used across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe for thousands of years.

What’s in it:
Gingerols and shogaols, the source of Ginger’s warmth and bite.

Why it’s outstanding:
Ginger supports healthy digestion, helps the stomach empty on schedule, and settles queasiness.*

Its job in this blend:
It helps restart rest-and-digest, keeps the blend sitting well, and — as herbalists have long done — warms the formula and carries the other herbs.*

ORGANIC LICORICE ROOT (Glycyrrhiza glabra) — THE TIRED-END SUPPORT

The tradition:
One of the most-used herbs in history. Licorice Root was found in King Tut’s tomb, and in Chinese tradition, it’s “the great harmonizer,” appearing in a large share of classic formulas. (The root, not the candy. Granny checked — most licorice candy is flavored with anise.)

What’s in it:
Glycyrrhizin, which makes the root about fifty times sweeter than sugar.

Why it’s outstanding:
Glycyrrhizin slows the switch that turns cortisol off, so the body’s own cortisol lasts longer. That’s why herbalists have long turned to Licorice for the flattened-out exhaustion stage. It also soothes the gut lining.*

Its job in this blend:
It holds up the worn-out end. Because it’s powerful, it’s used in a small amount, and it’s the reason this blend takes a two-week break.*

BETTER TOGETHER: ADRENAL CORTISOL WELLNESS TEA

Granny’s been telling people to sit down and have a cup of tea for sixty years. Turns out she was onto something.

The tincture and the tea deliver the herbs in two different ways. Alcohol draws out the resinous, alcohol-loving compounds and concentrates them into a few drops you can take anywhere. Hot water pulls out the water-loving compounds alcohol leaves behind — and a full tablespoon of whole herb in every cup is far more plant than any dropper can hold. The tea carries American Ginseng Root, too, so the two overlap where it counts and fill each other’s gaps everywhere else.

Then there’s the cup itself. Sitting down with something warm is one of the plainest ways to flip the switch from fight-or-flight to rest-and-digest.

A simple rhythm: drops with breakfast, then a cup of Adrenal Cortisol Wellness Tea in the early afternoon, when the slump usually hits. The tea is caffeine-free — use 1 tablespoon per 8 oz cup. It pairs well with Godly Granny Gourmet Honey.

WHAT HELPS BESIDES THE BOTTLE

  • Protect your sleep. Be in bed before 11 p.m., before the second wind kicks in.
  • Get morning light. Ten minutes outside early helps reset the cortisol curve.
  • Eat breakfast with protein. It steadies blood sugar, so cortisol doesn’t have to.
  • Walk. Gentle movement burns off the alarm. Punishing workouts add to it when you’re already depleted.
  • Breathe out longer than you breathe in. A long, slow exhale tells your body the bear is gone.
  • Make room for quiet. Prayer, Scripture, a porch swing — whatever puts you back in rest-and-digest.

HOW TO TAKE IT

Shake well — every time.
This is a whole-herb extract, and plant matter settles to the bottom between doses. A little sediment means the herbs are really in there. Shake before every dose so each serving carries the full blend.

When:
Morning and early afternoon only — first dose with breakfast, second (if taking two) with lunch. Nothing after about 3 p.m.; Eleuthero and American Ginseng are energizing, and a late dose can cost you sleep.

With food:
Yes, never on an empty stomach. Ashwagandha can upset an empty stomach, and Granny never let anybody take anything on an empty stomach anyway.

How:
Mix your drops into a little water.

  • Adults: 30 drops, 1–2 times daily
  • Teens 16+: 15 drops, once daily
  • Sensitive individuals: Start with 10 drops

Coffee? Go right ahead. Granny would never come between you and your coffee.

TAKING IT ALONGSIDE A CLEANSE

Adrenal Cortisol does not need a binder. But if you’re also on a Godly Granny blend that does — Anti-Parasite, Biofilm Buster, Candida Yeast Balance, Heavy Metal Detox, or Mold Fashioned — keep at least two hours between your binder and these drops. A binder can’t tell what you want carried out from the herbs you just took, so it will soak up both if they meet.

HOW LONG

8–12 weeks, then two weeks off before repeating — the break keeps Licorice from building up. Many people notice they’re sleeping better and riding out stress more easily within two to three weeks, with steadier energy building from there. Give it the full run.*

WHY VIOLET GLASS

Amber glass is so last century.

Every Godly Granny tincture is bottled in Miron violet glass, developed in Switzerland for makers who take freshness seriously.

Light protection.
Clear, amber, and blue glass all let most visible light through, and visible light is what breaks a plant extract down — it drives the oxidation that fades color, flattens taste, and weakens the compounds you’re paying for. Violet glass blocks the entire visible spectrum, letting through only a narrow band of violet light along with UV-A and infrared, the wavelengths that help preserve what’s inside.

Extended shelf life.
Alcohol is a natural preservative. Paired with glass that keeps light off the extract, your bottle stays strong for years, not months — 5–7 years tightly closed in a cool, dark place. No refrigeration needed.

Herb frequency retention.
Every living plant carries its own subtle energy, or frequency. Miron’s makers — and many herbalists — hold that violet light helps keep that living quality intact long after harvest, so what’s in your bottle stays as close as possible to the plant it came from.

WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE IT

  • Pregnant or nursing.
  • Under 16.
  • High blood pressure, low potassium, a heart rhythm condition, or kidney trouble. Licorice can raise blood pressure and lower potassium.
  • An overactive thyroid. Ashwagandha nudges thyroid hormone output upward.
  • An autoimmune condition. Ashwagandha and the ginsengs rev up immune activity, which is the opposite of what an overactive immune system needs.
  • Blood sugar that already runs low. American Ginseng and Tulsi both bring it down.
  • A planned operation coming up. Stop two weeks before any planned operation, because American Ginseng affects blood sugar and clotting.
  • Nightshade sensitivity. Ashwagandha is in the nightshade family, with tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes.
  • Avoiding alcohol completely. A 30-drop serving is less than a teaspoon of liquid, but it is alcohol.

WARNINGS

  • Possible signs of liver strain: Stop taking it if the whites of your eyes or your skin turn yellow, your urine turns dark, or you have pain under your right ribs. Ashwagandha has rarely been linked to liver strain.
  • Possible signs of increased blood pressure: Stop taking it if you notice ankle swelling, headaches, or a pounding heartbeat — signs Licorice may be raising your blood pressure.
  • Doubling up on Licorice: Menopause Perimenopause also contains Licorice Root. If you take both, skip other Licorice products and take your two-week breaks from both at the same time.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
