Organic Comfrey Root Topical Liniment—Full Strength
Description
For External Use Only
“Knitbone” — The Legendary Topical Healer of Skin, Muscles, Joints & Sinews
A Root Trusted for More Than 2,000 Years
Some herbs become famous because they're fashionable. Comfrey became famous because people kept reaching for it. Long before modern creams, sports balms, or pharmacy shelves, Comfrey Root (Symphytum officinale) earned one of the most respected reputations in traditional Western herbalism.
Ancient Greek physician Dioscorides wrote about it nearly 2,000 years ago. Medieval monks cultivated it in monastery gardens. Country doctors, herbalists, and generations of families kept it close at hand whenever life left its marks—hard work, bumps and bruises, sore muscles, strained joints, weathered hands, and skin that simply needed a little extra care.
Over time, it became known by many affectionate names:
Knitbone. Bruisewort. Boneset. The Bone Mender.
Those names weren't chosen because comfrey performed miracles. They reflected the respect people developed for a remarkable root that became a trusted companion whenever the body needed comfort and support after everyday wear and tear.
That same root is what you'll find here. Not powdered. Not diluted. Not hidden beneath unnecessary fillers.
Just Certified Organic Comfrey Root, carefully extracted into a full-strength topical liniment designed for external use exactly as traditional herbalists intended.
Every bottle is packaged in premium Miron violet glass, helping protect delicate botanical compounds from damaging light while preserving freshness and potency over time.
Because Granny believes that if an herb has earned centuries of trust... It deserves to be treated with the same respect today.
ONE IMPORTANT NOTE
Comfrey is one of Granny's favorite topical herbs. But it belongs on the skin—not inside the body.
Comfrey naturally contains compounds called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), making it unsuitable for internal use. That's why this product has been crafted exclusively as a topical liniment.
Used responsibly on intact, healthy skin, comfrey has been treasured for generations as part of traditional herbal body care.

How It Works — The Science of "Knitbone"
Comfrey's power is mostly one brilliant molecule: allantoin. Allantoin is a cell-proliferant — it actually encourages skin and connective-tissue cells to divide and multiply faster, accelerating the body's natural repair of the surface and the tissues just beneath it. Layer on rosmarinic acid's anti-inflammatory calm and mucilage's soothing moisture, and you have a botanical that helps the body rebuild, soothe, and settle — right where it hurts. That's why generations have trusted comfrey compresses on bruises, sprains, and aching joints.

Why This Comfrey Extract Is Different
Certified Organic. Made with clean comfrey root grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical residues.
Full-Strength Extraction. A potent, true-to-the-root liquid liniment with the whole spectrum of comfrey’s allantoin and soothing botanical compounds intact—ready to apply topically or blend into your own salves and balms.

Versatile Topical Base. Apply directly, dab onto a compress, or blend a few drops into unscented lotion, oil, or balm to create your own comfrey salve.
A Final Word from Granny
Granny has always believed that the strongest herbs deserve the greatest respect. Comfrey is one of those special plants that has walked beside humanity for thousands of years. But wisdom means knowing that every gift from nature has a purpose — and a proper place. So, treat this root like Granny would treat any precious heirloom: with appreciation, with care, and with respect for the instructions that keep it safe.

WHY FULL-STRENGTH MATTERS – The Phytochemical Arsenal
When you choose a full-strength botanical extract, you're getting far more than one isolated ingredient. You're receiving the remarkable complexity of the entire root working together. Comfrey contains an impressive collection of naturally occurring plant compounds that complement one another, creating one of nature's most respected topical herbs.
- Allantoin: The compound most closely associated with comfrey's legendary reputation. Allantoin has long been valued in skincare because it helps support the skin's natural renewal process while encouraging skin to feel softer, smoother, and well cared for. Today, you'll find purified allantoin in many premium moisturizers, creams, and cosmetic products. Granny simply prefers the whole root.
- Rosmarinic Acid: A naturally occurring antioxidant found in several respected botanical herbs. Rosmarinic acid helps support healthy-looking skin while contributing soothing botanical comfort after a long day or strenuous activity.
- Natural Mucilage: Think of mucilage as nature's moisturizer. This silky plant gel helps attract and hold moisture while comforting dry, rough, weathered skin. It's one reason comfrey feels so wonderfully soothing when applied topically.
- Tannins: These naturally occurring plant compounds provide gentle astringent properties that help tone and condition the skin's surface.
- Phenolic Compounds & Antioxidants: Comfrey's naturally occurring antioxidants help defend healthy skin against everyday environmental stressors while supporting overall skin wellness.
- Naturally Occurring Minerals: Comfrey also contains trace minerals, including silica, which has traditionally been appreciated as part of healthy skin and connective tissue support.
One remarkable root. A complete topical repair kit.
Storage & Directions
Directions — External Use Only
This extract is for topical (external) use only. Do not take internally.
Shake gently before use. Patch-test first on a small area of the inner arm and wait 24 hours. Then apply a small amount to the intact (unbroken) skin over the affected area — a sore muscle, an aching joint, a bruise, or rough, dry skin — up to 2–3 times daily. You can apply the liniment directly, dab it onto a cloth compress, or blend a dropperful into unscented lotion, carrier oil, or a salve base for a make-your-own comfrey balm. Wash hands after applying. Use for short periods only (see Warnings).
Warnings & Contraindications — Please Read Carefully
Comfrey is a powerful traditional healer, but it must be used correctly. Please respect these guidelines — they are not optional.
- EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Never take comfrey internally. Comfrey root contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), natural compounds that can cause serious, cumulative liver damage and are linked to cancer when absorbed into the body. Do not swallow this product and keep it away from food and drink.
- Apply only to intact, unbroken skin. Do not apply to open wounds, deep cuts, broken skin, or damaged skin barriers — this allows the harmful alkaloids to be absorbed into the body. Surface-level, intact skin only.
- Limit duration. Do not use on the same area for more than about 10 days at a time, and not more than 4–6 weeks total per year. More is not better with comfrey; brief, targeted use is the safe way.
- Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The alkaloids can reach and harm a baby.
- Do not use on children. Children's skin absorbs more, and they are more vulnerable to the alkaloids.
- Do not use if you have liver disease or take medications that affect the liver, and avoid combining with heavy alcohol use.
- Do a patch test and discontinue immediately if you notice any rash, redness, or irritation.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after each application, and never apply near the eyes, lips, or any mucous membranes.
- Not for large areas of skin at once — treat the specific spot that needs it, not wide swaths of the body.
- Alcohol content. This is an alcohol-based liniment for topical use; keep away from flames until dry, and avoid on freshly shaved or broken skin (it will sting and increase absorption).
- Keep out of reach of children and pets, and store safely despite the child-resistant cap.
- When in doubt, consult a qualified healthcare provider — especially for a serious injury, a wound, or any condition needing medical care. Comfrey is a comfort and support, not a substitute for proper treatment of fractures, deep wounds, or infections.
